Today Laax was open for the last day of the “winter”… well, regarding freeriding possibly the worse winter I ever had…
instead of skiing I was of course writing my thesis and then I went for a walk… This is where I’m at home…

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011Changing air – from MSc to Alaska face in Laax
Saturday, April 16th, 2011Well today I totally had enough of writhing my thesis so I decided to go Freeriding. 8.00 meeting at Piazza ant up to the Vorab where we “woke up” the lifty to turn the lift on
after a cool run at Vorab Ost we decided that the Alaska face would be a good target… it was. After some difficulty getting into the face (the entering culoir was too dangerous an we took tiny passage probable 40-45° with many rocks but much stabler snow) we could enjoy the super face with huge turns
after the ride a long walk with some river crossing in super spring feeling took us back to Grauberg… Thanks Guys and see you next time

FIS Worldcup finals in Lenzerheide
Monday, March 28th, 2011Soo, winter is almost gone… (Did it ever arive!?) and this year the worldcup finals are in Lenzerheide again. After a great downhill race on wednesday (won by my favourite Julia Mancuso and where Cuche won the snall globe) the weather got worse. Saturday we decided to go watch the mens slalom (the women s GS got cancelled.).
Lets say that it was more a listening than a watchin since the fog was soo thick that we could see just the last 4-5 gates…
On the other hand it was super to see al the best slalom skiers passing just by us during recognition for the second run. And even better was after the race as all the racer (even thos from the othe disciplines since it was the last race of the season) passed by and sayd hello and took pictures… And guess what?? I got the best one…

End of the year BBQ with Black League Ski Classes
Wednesday, January 5th, 2011Today Pädi and I decided to enjoy the super weather of this year’s end and to take our ski classes to grill in the woods. After looking for some wood and grill sticks we found a super place, lit the fire and grilled our sausages.

Saturday, February 14th, 2009Las Leñas – Malarguë
Friday, June 13th, 2008For the French speaking people, the opening day of the “Las Lenas” ski resort was a live remake of the movie “Les bronzés font du ski”. That day was free for everybody so 14 buses of students from Mendoza showed up for this occasion with Mam and Dad outfits from the 70′s…sssoooo funny. Not to say the lifts are going pretty well with this decade. In other words, you could have been in Europe 30 years ago. No kidding. Our friend from Steamboat, Axel, who is working there in our “summer season” told us not to take one lift that is so old he find it dangerous.
We hadn’t our ski stuff with us so we composed with what we had. I ended up skiing in……jeans!!!!!Even the people in Fluo Killy suits were laughing.
At 489 Inches we close
Sunday, April 6th, 2008Oh well, what to say… It was a S-N-O-W-Y winter!!!
Today, closing day for steamboat, we got up ready for a sunny spring day… but no, it was snowing again… 489 inches of wonderful snow fell on “The Boat” this winter! great!
now, we’re at home, we just had dinner and are ready to go celebrate this awesome winter. though, looking out and watching all this snow still falling makes me a bit sad, it’s a shame that business decisions rule everything…
well… in 7 days we’ll be in playa and next winter might be even better
Cheers Marco
